Biography
Do Tell...
LAZER BEAM is a groundbreaking in your face electric and eclectic rock ensemble who seeks to push their artistry and originality to new levels within their compositions. Each body of work highlighting a specific concept, founding member Lucust French aims to keep the flavors fresh, while creating the worlds greatest mixtape.
Originally a Solo studio project from Jerome, Arizona , Lazer Beam has released 2 albums singlehandedly by Artist and multi instrumentalist Lucust French.
The inagural album is a total desert rock showdown - written and played entirely by Lucust, staying dedicated to his love for underground acts such as Kyuss, Morphine, Masters Of Reality, and Queens Of The Stone Age.
His follow up, Lost In Oblivion is a collection of recordings from when Lucust was living in his van in 2022 while working as a city bus driver, marauding the frigid streets of Reno, highlighting his incognito demeanor. The music is mellow, and sets the tone for a cold night alone, amidst the bums, drug addicts, and alcoholics.
In 2023 Lucust moved to San Francisco in search of forming a live band, meeting drummer John Anderson, formerly of The Atom Age, and at the time re-recruiting his bass slinging father Mitchell French, formerly in Operator Generator and Lucust's first band Burn Thee Insects.
Since September ‘23 the band has expanded with Pianist Trixie Rasputin. As of 2025 the addition of Gavin Dowd on Bass has added a harder edge to the band, with future projects shaping up to be more towards the likes of All them Witches, Mastodon, and Them Crooked Vultures.
With reoccurring themes of escapisms, sticky situations, and isolation, LAZER BEAM focuses on providing listeners with an oasis of warm and real rock music sheltering you from an otherwise fake, cold, and unending rat race that we find ourselves in.
“If your soul is empty dark and grey… You’re more than welcome here to stay…”
